yeah, b&w is a definate medium i enjoy, it has the possibility to accentuate the shadows and give more emotion than color, which usually seems like a gimmick.
though there are times that color is necessary, because we live in a three dimensional world with things that MUST be seen in color to reinforce the fact that they simply exist.
